Mirah – The Old Days Feeling July 21, 2008

Mmmmmmmmmmirah

The Old Days Feeling

New Mirah Album released July 15. I almost forgot about this because it wasn’t on any of the regular CD release lists. The Old Days Feeling is a compilation of older songs and unreleased material from out-of-print cds, foreign compilations, etc.

I like Mirah, even more so since I saw her last year perform at the Black Cat with Laura Viers. I prefer her older material to the new album (other songs were picked over these for a reason). If you are new to her music, I recommend “Cold, Cold Water” and “Pollen”. It’s sweet, folksy singer-songwriter music that can’t help but make you smile. I’m picky with my singer-songwriters (Ani Difranco annoys me), so you can trust my judgement with these two tracks.

“Lone star” is very lo-fi. Other people I’ve talked to, have had strongly negative opinions of it, but I don’t think it’s that bad. I included a link so you can listen and decide for yourself.

“Location Temporary” and “Slighted” are my favorite tracks, typical Mirah, and typically good.
