Indie Rock Band Covers Bubblegum Princess June 24, 2008

Irony is Sexy

The Mae Shi

I know what you’re thinking. You’re probably wondering why, yet again, I have a post tagged as Miley Cyrus.  Surprise, surprise, this teen superstar is also making waves… in indie music circles?  Experimental Punk Band The Mae Shi has released a cover of Miley Cyrus’ song “See You Again”.  The cover is more synth pop and spaz rock than squeaky clean bubblegum princess. It features more layers of different funky sounds but they didn’t change it too, too much.  So, if Cyrus is a guilty pleasure, you shouldn’t be too disappointed.  ”See You Again” is never going to be at the top of any of my playlists, but it’s another catchy, flirty song that makes me want to pull out my 80s garb and dance.
